Important times to remove your Shade Sail - Shade sails must be removed before severe storms and cyclones. Never go out and attempt to remove a sail during strong wind gusts or cyclonic winds. DIY -Taking The Sail Down Mark a corner on the sail to be a reference point. (this is so you know where the point goes when the sail is re-hung) Go to each of the points and unwind the turnbuckle by passing your screw driver thru the center and winding in the direction that is easiest to turn. Now that all the turnbuckles are loosened wind one all the way out so that it detaches itself from the post. This should loosen all the other turnbuckles enough for you to remove safety clip. If you have D-shackles on a point without a turnbuckle. release the turnbuckles on all the other points before you attempt to loosen and remove the D- shackles. Take sail tracks down last of all. Make sure that you don’t lose any parts. tore turnbuckles and D-shackles on the sail. It is important to not forget what point was connected with eg. Turnbuckle, Long D-shackle, Short D-shackle etc.
